Mexico Ministry Urged to Impose High Duty in Chinese Steel Imports, News Reports

Mexico’s Financial Ministry has been requested by industrial departments to immediately impose high duty on Chinese steel imports for thousands of works have been put in danger, the most influential news agency El Financiero in Mexico was cited as saying by Chinese media.

Financial Ministry should set up a mechanism to prevent Mexican steel industry from unfair competitors from China, The Chinese news agency reported, quoting congressman José Ricardo Saldívar Vaquera in the report, who believes high duty on Chinese steel imports would put Mexican steel products in a better position because people would buy Mexican products due to better quality over Chinese products when the prices of the two are the same.

Earlier this month, Mexico’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has been reportedly informed China of initiating sunset review of antidumping duty investigation on concrete steel nails originated from China under the HS code of 73170099. (Read Full Article)

In this February, International Trade Practice General Office of Economy Ministry in Mexico wrote to Chinese Embassy based in Mexico that it has already accept the application of initiating antidumping investigation of reinforced steel rope originated from China, Spain and Portugal under the HS code of 72171099, 73121001, 73121005, 73121007, 73121008, 73121010 and 73121099.
